# Limits and billing

Rate limits, retries and billing.

## Rate limit

You can send **60 requests per minute**, counted per API key and per IP address. Using a different key on each request does not raise the limit.

Over the limit, the API returns `429` with these headers:

| Header                  | Meaning                             |
| ----------------------- | ----------------------------------- |
| `Retry-After`           | Seconds to wait before retrying     |
| `X-RateLimit-Limit`     | Requests allowed per minute         |
| `X-RateLimit-Remaining` | Requests left in the current window |

Wait for the number of seconds in `Retry-After`, then retry.

## Billing

There is no per-request charge. Quotes are included in your Zapiet plan, and empty quotes are not charged.

Your shop needs an active Zapiet subscription. Without one, the API returns an empty `rates` list.
